2013 Oscar Nominations

There were so many good movies put out this year, which means I might actually get excited about watching the Oscars. There are still a few more on the Oscar nod list that I’d like to see. My favorite by far was Beasts of the Southern Wild and I am thrilled that Quvenzhané Wallis was nominated for best actress. She was incredible.

I loved Lincoln and most of the actors in it, including Daniel Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones, who both received nominations. It was a long movie, but the acting was great and the story line very moving.

My favorite actor in Les Miserables was Hugh Jackman. I also thought Russel Crowe was very good, although that doesn’t seem to be the popular opinion. A dark film, but a wonderful story.

I had mixed feelings about Argo. While I thought the historical aspect of it was very interesting, I felt that the characters and the acting left something to be desired. I’m glad to see that Alan Arkin was nominated for his supporting role as his humor, along with John Goodman’s, really helped the movie along.

I’d still like to see Django Unchained and the Silver Lining Playbook.

What movies did you like this year? Any that weren’t nominated?
